Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Updated: Oct 22, 2024

We're hopeful on this Martin Luther King Jr. day. It might seem bleak these days, but change is now possible. If we put our shoulders to the wheel, that is. We've been reminded that the "moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice." That's true only if we make it so. And 1619 to 2021 is too long an arc.

“If the cruelties of slavery could not stop us, the opposition we now face will surely fail. Because the goal of America is freedom, abused and scorned tho’ we may be, our destiny is tied up with America’s destiny.” MLK Jr.

He believed in us. Let's not let him down. BLM.

Your words about MLK and the long arc of justice really resonated with me. It's a powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in creating change. I've been thinking a lot about how to contribute lately. By the way, have you heard of Lulu Publishing? They're doing amazing work helping people share important stories. I just published a book of poetry about social justice through them.
